"SAANJH SANJEEVANI"
Sanjeevani has performed across India and the world particularly in the United States.Her song Chorichori jab nazreein mili has given her voice the identity of being soft and melodious. She has performed for a ten thousand strong crowd in, hold your breath... Bhutan! And when the Indian Embassy in Nepal invited her, she held the four-odd thousand crowd in thrall for over 3 hours!
She has to her credit over 1000 shows of her live band "Saanjh Sanjeevani". The show, which is compered, scripted and performed by Sanjeevani showcases Hindi film music from 1946 to the latest hits. A three-hour treat for the ears, the highlight of the programme is the scintillating classical based songs.
Songs of Geeta Dutt, Noorjehan, Shamshaad Begum, Lataji, Asha Bhosle and of course Sanjeevani's own hits feature in this gala show. Evergreen numbers like Barsaatmein, Ayega anewala, Jawan hain Mohobbat, Mohe Panghat pe, ChinChin Choo, Piya tose naina lage, Vande Mataram and several others take listeners on a nostalgia trip.Listeners love her sweet,innocent voice instantaneously.With hundreds of songs committed to memory,Sanjeevani can satisfy practically any farmaish(requests).
Sanjeevani wins accolades for her spontaneous and unique style of compering. She gently provides information on all the songs especially appreciating the poetry.Her whole being expresses the song and she is known for her soulful renditions.Somewhere during the performance the singer becomes the song.All this with a dignity and charm of a seasoned performer.
SANJIVANI ROCKS NEW YORK
May 9th 2004 saw our favourite performer Sanjivani take on the NewYork audience at the Colden Center for performing Arts,Queens.The show was organised by the JAIN CENTER OF AMERICA in order to raise funds for building a Jain temple in Queens.
7 pm saw a 1000 plus crowd of music lovers throng the Colden Center,dressed in ethnic sarees ,kurtas and sherwanis.The concert started with the auspicious Jain Namokar mantra and some devotional songs.
Then began the roller-coaster ride of Hindi film hits from yesteryears.Starting from a 1946 "jawan hain mohobbat"and "saiyyan dilmein ana re", Sanjivani and her co-singer Shivprasad had the audience in raptures.Almost EVERY song demanded an encore(once more they shouted in joy)
Whether it was Madhuban mein radhika,tu ganga ki mouj,ayega anewala,barsaatmein or the recent madhubanmein jo kanhaiyya from Lagaan or Sanjivani's own Nikamma kiya;the audience just couldn't have enough.
Then came the surprise part when ace performer Sanjivani invited the kids to dace on the stage on latest hit songs like Kal ho na ho's "Mahive".Goodness gracious!There were over 30 kids in a riot of energy on stage and their parents cheered!But that was not all.Next came the turn of the parents and behold!You had 60 plus couples coming on to the stage and dancing on "bholi surat dilke khote" aka actor Bhagwan and the gujju bens doing garba on "tari bankire paghaldi".
What an evening it was!The whole audience was simple mesmerised by the sheer life that Sanjivani's charisma and voice breathed into the performance.Spell-bound they left the auditorium after 3 hours chanting "Vande mataram" carrying Sanjivani's voice home in the form of Cds.
This sure will be a performance NewYork will remember for years to come.
Sanjivani will be performing once again in NewYork on 27th November 2004 in Long Island.
